Bonn University Botanical Garden
The history of the Botanical Garden, one of the oldest
and more traditional of the north of the Alps, goes back
to 400 years ago. In the 17th century it was outlined
one of the splendorous gardens of its time, that included
orangeries (ancestor of the green houses). The garden,
as we know it, dates from the foundation of the University
in 1818 and its limits are exactly coincident with those
of the Elector park.
Until now, exists two of the old baroque gardens. Outdoors,
the collections consist of the arboreto (collection of
trees), like a design park and several plantings with
herbal plants and kindling wood for teaching works (including
systematic botany, ecology and fitogeography, the biological
study of flowers, fruits and medicinal plants).
