Freistaat Thüringen
Located in the geographic centre of Germany, its capital
is Erfut, also called "the city of the flowers".
It has an interesting cultural patrimony, formed by palaces,
churches and convents. But the most famous city of the
region is Weimar, place where Goethe wrote part of his
work and where the poet Schiller and the composer Liszt
lived. In 1919 the city saw the birth of the "Bauhaus"
artistic movement.
On the other hand, the Thuringia forest is a set of grasslands,
defiles, springs and rivers. It has several trekking paths
routes, including one of oldest of Germany, 170 marshes
where to practice watersports, and one remarkable bath
network. The State of Thuringia also has the so called
"Classic Route", a route of 300 km, perfect
to know main monuments of the region.
